In the fourth quarter of 2024, the top navigation and maps applications on the Android platform in Central America revealed interesting trends in downloads and user engagement, as reported by Sensor Tower.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a robust presence with weekly downloads peaking at around 121K in mid-December. However, the app saw fluctuations in its weekly active users, which started at approximately 5.3M and closed the quarter slightly lower at 5M.
Camera Location: Geotag Photos experienced a significant rise in weekly downloads, reaching a high of about 74K in November. The app's active user base also grew, peaking at 62K towards the end of December.
Offline Maps, GPS, Speedometer showed a consistent download trend with a slight dip mid-quarter, but concluded with a rise to nearly 35K downloads in the last week of December. Active users mirrored this trend, ending at approximately 29K.
Google Earth saw a steady pattern in weekly downloads, maintaining around 28K at the start and finishing the quarter with about 19K. Active user numbers showed minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at around 336K.
Lastly, Radar Map, Radar Detector, HUD had a notable decrease in downloads over the quarter, starting at 53K and dropping to 2.6K by the end. However, weekly active users remained relatively stable, closing at about 105K.
